The first step is a 15-minute call to see if we’re the right fit to help you.

7 Step Process

Step 1 – Schedule a Call 

A 15-minute call with one of our advisors will give us an opportunity for us each to make sure we’re the right fit to help you. After all, you wouldn’t see a Neurosurgeon for a root canal! Schedule a prospective client introductory call with us.

If we are not the best fit for you, we will introduce to one of the many great advisors we know.

Step 2 – Get Organized Meeting

This 60-minute meeting (in-person or via Zoom) is designed to answer your question and for us to better understand your goals and financial situation.

Prior to this meeting, we will request a few pieces of financial data that can be sent in before or brought to the meeting. We will use this information to create your One-Page Financial Plan. 

Step 3 – Evaluate

After this meeting, we will use the data provided along with our discussion as the framework for creating a One-Page Financial Plan that will answer 4 key questions:

  1. Am I on track for retirement? 
  2. Are my investments optimized for my goals?
  3. How can I reduce my tax bill?
  4. Is my insurance and estate plan adequate?

Step 4 – Strategy Meeting

During this 75-minute meeting we will review your One-Page Financial Plan along with our recommendations.

We will also use this time to outline or services so you can better understand how we work with clients on an ongoing basis.

At the end of this meeting we will ask you to sleep on it before making a decision about whether to work with our firm.

Step 5 – Sleep on it

We are looking for long-term relationships with the individuals and families we work with. We are in no rush for you to make any decision. If you would like to meet once more, we are happy to do so.

Before working with us, we want you to answer “yes” to 3 questions: 

  1. Do I trust Reston Wealth Management?
  2. Will the value I receive outweigh the cost of their fees?
  3. Do I understand and agree with their recommendations?

We will follow up in one week to discuss how you would like to move forward. If you have decided that we are not the right fit for you, we will happily refer you to a few of the great financial advisors we know and trust.

Step 6 – Launch Meeting

In this 90-minute meeting, we will answer any questions that you have and begin the process of implementing the first steps of the plan, often including -

  1. Further discussion around goals and objectives
  2. Opening new investment accounts
  3. Outlining the first year of engagement

Step 7 - First Year

During the first year of engagement, we typically have four meetings to cover each of the core areas of financial planning:

  1. Financial Planning and Projections
  2. Cash Flow and Taxes
  3. Estate and Insurance
  4. Investment and Real Estate
